Terms of Service
Last updated: March 31, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using NotoMed.dev (the “Site”) and any tools, calculators, or applications available through the Site (collectively, the “Tools”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Site or Tools.
2. Nature of the Tools — Not Medical Advice
THE TOOLS PROVIDED ON NOTOMED.DEV ARE FOR EDUCATIONAL AND INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. THEY ARE NOT INTENDED TO REPLACE, SUPPLEMENT, OR SERVE AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR PROFESSIONAL CLINICAL JUDGMENT, MEDICAL ADVICE, DIAGNOSIS, OR TREATMENT.
NotoMed.dev provides clinical decision-support tools designed for licensed healthcare professionals and medical trainees. These tools are designed to reduce cognitive load and assist with common inpatient workflows (e.g., opioid conversions, electrolyte workups, perioperative risk assessment, note summarization, evidence retrieval). They are intended to supplement — never replace — the clinical judgment of a qualified healthcare provider.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- All clinical decisions remain the sole responsibility of the treating healthcare provider.
- Tool outputs (calculations, dosing suggestions, risk scores, summaries, evidence citations) must be independently verified before being applied to patient care.
- The Tools are built for adult, hospitalized patients in the context of internal medicine and may not be appropriate for other clinical settings, specialties, or patient populations.
- The Tools may contain errors, outdated information, or limitations that could affect their accuracy.
3. User Responsibilities
By using the Site and Tools, you represent and warrant that:
- You are a licensed healthcare professional, medical trainee, or other qualified individual using the Tools for legitimate clinical, educational, or research purposes.
- You will verify all tool outputs against current evidence-based guidelines, institutional protocols, and patient-specific clinical factors before making any clinical decisions.
- You will not rely solely on any Tool output for patient care decisions.
- You are solely responsible for ensuring that any clinical data you enter into the Tools has been properly de-identified in accordance with your institution's policies and applicable regulations (including HIPAA, where applicable).
- You will not upload notes containing highly sensitive, stigmatized, or non-clinical personal details into tools that transmit data to external services.
- You will review the output of automated PHI scrubbing before submitting data to any AI-powered tool, as no automated de-identification system is infallible.
4. AI-Powered Tools
Certain Tools (including inScope and inReview) use third-party artificial intelligence models for clinical evidence retrieval and note summarization. You acknowledge that:
- AI-generated outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. They must never be taken at face value without independent clinical verification.
- Evidence citations provided by AI tools should be verified against primary sources before use in clinical documentation or decision-making.
- AI models may occasionally produce content that appears authoritative but is factually incorrect (“hallucinations”).
- For inReview, NotoMed.dev implements client-side PHI scrubbing before any clinical note data is sent to AI providers. You bear ultimate responsibility for ensuring data compliance.
5. Patient Data & PHI
NotoMed.dev is not a HIPAA-covered entity and does not sign Business Associate Agreements (BAAs). Most Tools process data entirely in your browser and do not transmit clinical information to any server.
For tools that transmit data to third-party AI providers (after client-side de-identification):
- You are solely responsible for ensuring adequate de-identification before submission.
- NotoMed.dev does not store, log, or retain any clinical data on its servers.
- You are responsible for compliance with all applicable privacy laws and your institution's data governance policies.
See our Privacy Policy for detailed information on data handling, PHI scrubbing methods, and third-party services.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SITE AND TOOLS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Tools will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components. We do not guarantee the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any tool output, calculation, dosing recommendation, risk assessment, clinical summary, or evidence citation.
7. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NOTOMED.DEV, ITS CREATOR, CONTRIBUTORS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SITE OR TOOLS.
This includes, without limitation, damages arising from:
- Clinical decisions made based on tool outputs.
- Errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in tool calculations or AI-generated content.
- Unauthorized access to or disclosure of patient data.
- Failure of automated PHI scrubbing to detect all identifiers.
- Reliance on AI-generated evidence citations or clinical summaries.
- Interruption or unavailability of the Site or Tools.
You expressly agree that your use of the Site and Tools is at your sole risk.
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless NotoMed.dev, its creator, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:
- Your use of the Site or Tools.

11. Modifications
We reserve the right to modify, update, or discontinue the Site or any Tool at any time without prior notice. We may also update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Site shall be resolved in the appropriate courts of the jurisdiction in which the Site operator resides.
13. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining Terms remain in full force and effect.
